Congregational prayers & community gatherings

We organise Friday prayer every week. During Covid-19 lockdowns, we have to suspend these gatherings. Alhamdulillah, the congregations resumed once the restrictions were lifted. We also organise Tarawih prayers during the month of Ramadan. Marwa also arranges both Eid prayers and hold community get-togethers. A range of events focused on strengthening the community bonds is also organised throughout the year, including dinners, Eid gatherings, and sports activities.

Emergency / Qard e Hasana Fund

MARWA established an emergency fund to spend on all community members in emergencies. In 2020, we started a COVID-19 Relief Fund to support the Wagga Wagga community members experiencing financial difficulty. MARWA helped the community member by donating 9,000 during the last year. Supports have been tailored to meet the needs of people who needed assistance during the crisis. MARWA also supported financially during the Ebola outbreak in Congo in 2017 and Bushfire emergencies in Australia in 2019.

Islamic Knowledge sharing

MARWA promotes Islamic knowledge sharing by arranging a range of living-link programs. MARWA also regularly organises short lectures for the community covering essential topics such as the basics of ablution, prayers, and the life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

Funeral Services

One of the hardest things we will ever have to do is say goodbye to those we love and care for. Islam teaches Muslims to accept this ultimate fate by submitting to the wish of our Creator with patience and praying for mercy and forgiveness for the deceased. MARWA provides funeral services for Muslims in the Wagga Wagga region according to the Islamic funeral and burial rites and in accordance with the Australian legal requirements. Learn More

Khadijah (RA) Fund

Given the pre-eminent role of learning in our tradition, MARWA established the Khadijah (RA) Fund in 2020. This fund aims to promote female scholarship in our community.

Outreach programs

As part of its outreach strategy, MARWA is involved with various faith-based, not-for-profit, and other organisations contributing to the greater good of humanity. MARWA attends the OCW (Our Common Word) program, liaising with Wagga Wagga City Council, Multicultural Council, Charles Sturt University, and Wagga Wagga churches from various dominion. The theme of the event was about our common words for peace and harmony.
